1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using TagsTrader.com (the "Platform"), operated by Madinina Data Systems LLC, a California limited liability company ("TagsTrader," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you may not use the Platform. TagsTrader reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Platform following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Description of Service
TagsTrader is a digital marketplace platform that facilitates the discovery, valuation, and private trading of vanity license plates between buyers and sellers. The Platform provides AI-powered search, valuation tools, messaging systems, and transaction coordination features to connect interested parties. TagsTrader does not itself buy, sell, or own any license plates.
3. AI Valuation Disclaimer
IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTICE
The valuation estimates provided by TagsTrader's AI-powered valuation tool are generated through algorithmic analysis of historical market data, comparable sales, plate characteristics, and demand indicators. These valuations are:
- Estimates Only - Not binding valuations or appraisals
- Not Guarantees - Do not guarantee actual market value, sale price, or buyer interest
- Based on Assumptions - Derived from AI models trained on historical data and may not account for unique market conditions, regulatory changes, or individual circumstances
- Subject to Error - May contain inaccuracies due to incomplete data, model limitations, or unforeseen market factors
- For Informational Purposes - Intended only to provide general guidance and should not be relied upon as professional financial, legal, or appraisal advice

Users should conduct independent research, consult with professional appraisers, and exercise their own judgment when determining fair market value. TagsTrader shall not be liable for any losses, damages, or disputes arising from reliance on valuation estimates.
4. User Accounts and Registration
To access certain features of the Platform, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify TagsTrader immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. TagsTrader reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
5. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information about license plates or yourself
- Engage in harassment, threats, or abusive behavior toward other users
- Attempt to manipulate valuations, search results, or platform algorithms
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Platform without authorization
- Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or DMV rules regarding license plate transfers
- Engage in money laundering, fraud, or other illegal activities
- Infringe upon intellectual property rights or post copyrighted content without permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or access the Platform's underlying systems
6. Listing and Selling Plates
Sellers warrant that they are the legitimate owner of any license plate listed on the Platform and have the legal right to sell it. All listings must include accurate information about the plate's condition, jurisdiction, and any restrictions. TagsTrader reviews the registration document and plate photograph that a seller uploads before approving a listing. We do not query DMV records and we do not contact licensing authorities; that review is a check on the documents provided to us, not confirmation of title. Sellers are responsible for all applicable taxes, fees, and regulatory compliance related to their sales.
7. Buyer Protections and Offers
When making an offer or engaging in negotiations, buyers agree to act in good faith. TagsTrader facilitates communication but does not guarantee that any offer will be accepted or that any transaction will be completed. Buyers are responsible for verifying plate authenticity, legality, and transferability before committing to a purchase. All transactions are conducted privately between parties; TagsTrader is not a party to any sale agreement.
7A. License Plate Transfer Disclaimer - CRITICAL LEGAL NOTICE
⚠️ IMPORTANT: TagsTrader IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE LEGAL TRANSFER OF LICENSE PLATES
TagsTrader is exclusively a digital coordination and marketplace platform. We facilitate the discovery, valuation, and sale of vanity license plates between private parties. TagsTrader does not handle, execute, process, or manage the legal transfer of any license plate.
What TagsTrader Does:
- Provides a marketplace to list and discover vanity license plates
- Offers AI-powered valuation estimates for informational purposes only
- Facilitates buyer-seller communication through messaging
- Charges its own fees, such as a messaging unlock, through a third-party payment processor when that feature is enabled
- Provides informational guides and checklists for coordination purposes
What TagsTrader Does NOT Do:
- Handle or transfer ownership of license plates
- Interact with state DMV agencies or regulatory bodies, or access DMV records
- Hold, transfer, or escrow funds between a buyer and a seller
- Provide legal advice regarding plate transfers
- Guarantee the legality or transferability of any plate
- Ensure compliance with state or federal regulations
- Accept liability for transfer-related disputes or failures
Full Responsibility on Parties: Buyers and sellers are solely responsible for completing the legal transfer of license plates through their respective state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or equivalent regulatory agency. This includes obtaining all required documentation, paying applicable fees, submitting required forms, and complying with all state and federal laws governing license plate ownership and transfer.
No Guarantee of Transferability: TagsTrader makes no representation or warranty that any license plate listed on the Platform is legal, transferable, or capable of being registered in any particular jurisdiction. Buyers must independently verify with their state DMV that the plate they wish to purchase can be legally transferred and registered in their name before committing to a purchase.
Coordination Tools Only: Any transfer checklists, state-specific guides, or coordination tools provided by TagsTrader are for informational and coordination purposes only. These tools are not legal advice and do not constitute instructions for completing a legal transfer. Users should consult their state DMV website or a qualified attorney for official transfer procedures and requirements.
Disclaimer: TagsTrader shall not be liable for any losses, damages, disputes, regulatory violations, failed transfers, or any other consequences arising from the legal transfer (or failure to transfer) of any license plate, regardless of whether such consequences result from user error, state regulatory changes, plate ineligibility, or any other cause.
7B. United Arab Emirates - Additional Notice
In the UAE, plate number ownership and its transfer are administered by the relevant authority (the RTA in Dubai; the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi), and Dubai regulates the conduct of plate-number trading as a business, which may require a permit from the RTA. TagsTrader does not buy, sell, own, or trade plates and is not a party to any sale; it is a venue where private parties communicate. Users who buy or sell UAE plates are solely responsible for complying with the rules that apply to them - including completing the transfer through the relevant authority and, for anyone dealing in plates commercially, any licensing or permit requirements that apply to dealers. If you are unsure whether your activity requires a permit, consult the relevant authority or a qualified advisor before listing or buying.
7C. Information Accuracy and the Limits of What You Are Buying
Read this before you pay anything, to us or to anyone else.
Transfer rules change, and we will not always know. Every jurisdiction on this Platform sets its own rules for whether a plate may change hands, who may receive it, which forms apply, what it costs and how long it takes. Those rules are amended by legislatures, regulators and registries without notice to us. Our guides, checklists, fee figures, processing times, form numbers and links describe our understanding at the time they were written. They may be out of date, incomplete, or wrong for your particular plate or circumstances, and we do not undertake to keep them current.
Verifying is your responsibility, not ours. Before you list a plate, before you pay us anything, and above all before you send another person money, you are responsible for confirming directly with the issuing authority — the DMV, TxDMV, DVLA, RTA or equivalent — both that the plate can lawfully be transferred at all and what the correct process, cost and timing are. We give you their contact details in each guide. A statement on this Platform is never a substitute for their answer, and where the two conflict, theirs governs.
What your fee buys. The messaging unlock fee buys one thing: the ability to contact the other party through this Platform. It is not a verification service, an escrow, an appraisal, a title search, a legal opinion, or a guarantee. We do not check registry records, confirm that a seller owns what they have listed, confirm that a plate’s rights remain current, or confirm that any authority will approve a transfer between you. Listings are seller-reported. Valuations are automated estimates, not appraisals, and are frequently wrong.
Nothing here is legal advice. TagsTrader is not a law firm, a licensed dealer, a broker, or an agent of any party or authority, and no relationship of that kind is created by using the Platform. For advice about your situation, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
You accept the risk of the transaction itself. Any agreement you reach with another user is between the two of you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TagsTrader is not liable for a transfer that is refused, delayed, reversed or found to be impossible; for a plate that turns out to be lapsed, misdescribed, encumbered or not the seller’s to sell; for money you pay another user; or for any loss arising from reliance on information published here. Section 8 sets out the one thing we do refund: our own fee, where the transfer could not lawfully have happened.
7D. Difficult Jurisdictions, and Ones Where Nothing Is Reserved For You
Some of the places listed here make this hard on purpose. We list them anyway, and we tell you which ones they are.
We are a match-maker, and only that. The purpose of this Platform is to introduce a buyer and a seller who would otherwise never find one another. It is not a transfer service. We do not file your paperwork, attend your appointments, speak to your registry on your behalf, hold your money, or take any part in the transfer. What happens after the introduction is entirely between you, the other party, and your issuing authority.
Difficulty varies enormously, and we say so on every listing. In some jurisdictions one signed form names the recipient and it is done. In others the plate can only move as part of a vehicle changing hands, which means buying and later disposing of a vehicle you may not want, paying tax on it, and making several visits to an office. Where that is the case we describe it on the listing before you pay. We do not tell you whether it is worth doing. That judgement is yours alone, and we express no opinion on it.
Some places we deliberately do not list. Certain states release a plate combination back to the public rather than to a named person, so that once a seller gives it up, whoever applies first receives it — which may not be the buyer who paid. We do not offer those jurisdictions at all, because a fee to reach a seller is worth nothing if the plate cannot be directed to you. We also do not list jurisdictions that prohibit private plate sales or confine them to family members. This is our present understanding of those rules, not a legal opinion, and it may change.
We recommend an escrow service, and we do not provide one. Because money and paperwork move directly between you and the other party, we recommend that you use an independent escrow service so that funds are released only once the transfer has actually happened. We have no relationship with any escrow provider, we receive nothing from them, we do not vet them, and we never hold your funds ourselves. Choosing and arranging escrow is your responsibility.
You proceed at your own risk. By listing a plate or paying to contact another user, you confirm that you understand the process in your jurisdiction may be lengthy, costly and uncertain; that it may fail for reasons outside anyone's control, including a refusal by your authority, a change in the rules, a lapse of the plate, or the other party simply not doing what they said they would; and that you accept those risks yourself. Nothing on this Platform is legal, tax or financial advice, and our descriptions of any process are descriptions of our understanding, not instructions and not assurances. Where money or tax is involved you should take your own professional advice.
8. Fees and Payments
Listing a plate on TagsTrader is free, and selling carries no charge. TagsTrader charges fees for two services only: messaging unlocks and sponsored placements, at the prices disclosed on the Platform before you pay. These are digital services delivered immediately upon payment; fees are therefore non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable consumer law. TagsTrader reserves the right to modify fees with 30 days' notice. Card payments are processed by Stripe; card details never touch our servers.
If the transfer cannot legally happen. If you pay a messaging unlock and the plate turns out to be one that cannot lawfully be transferred to you — because the listing misdescribed it, because the plate's rights had already lapsed, or because the issuing authority does not permit that transfer — contact [email protected] and we will refund that unlock fee. This covers the fee TagsTrader charged you. It does not cover money you paid the seller directly, which is why we ask you to confirm eligibility with the issuing authority before sending anyone anything.
Listing a plate that cannot be transferred — for example a Texas personalised plate that was not originally bought at a My Plates auction, or a plate whose retention or renewal has lapsed — is a violation of these Terms. TagsTrader may remove such a listing at any time, without notice, and may suspend the account behind it.
9. Intellectual Property Rights
All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of TagsTrader or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit any content without prior written permission. User-generated content (listings, messages, reviews) remains your property, but you grant TagsTrader a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and promote such content on the Platform.
10. Limitation of Liability
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAGSTRADER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or data
- Failed transactions or disputes between buyers and sellers
- Inaccurate valuations or market information
- Unauthorized access to your account
- Service interruptions or technical errors
- Failed, incomplete, or delayed license plate transfers
- Regulatory violations or non-compliance with state DMV requirements
- Plate ineligibility, legal challenges, or transferability issues
- Disputes arising from the legal transfer process or DMV interactions
TagsTrader's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
SPECIFIC DISCLAIMER - LICENSE PLATE TRANSFERS:
TagsTrader explicitly disclaims all liability for any losses, damages, or consequences related to the legal transfer of license plates, including but not limited to: failed DMV applications, rejected transfer requests, regulatory non-compliance, plate ineligibility, transfer delays, disputes with state agencies, loss of plate ownership, or any other transfer-related issues. Users assume all risk associated with the legal transfer process and agree to hold TagsTrader harmless from any claims arising therefrom.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TagsTrader, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your use of the Platform, or any dispute with another user.
12. Dispute Resolution
Talk to us first. Most problems are settled by email. Before starting a formal proceeding, send a description of the dispute and the resolution you want to [email protected] and give us 30 days to resolve it.
Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator. Arbitration may take place remotely or in the county where you live. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
We pay the arbitration fees. For any claim where the amount in dispute is $10,000 or less, TagsTrader will pay the AAA filing, administration and arbitrator fees, unless the arbitrator finds the claim was frivolous. Each party otherwise bears its own legal costs, except where a statute provides otherwise.
Small claims and injunctive relief are excluded. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Nothing in this section waives your right to seek public injunctive relief, which remains available in court where the law so provides.
Individual claims only — no class actions. You and TagsTrader each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over any form of class proceeding, and may award relief only in favour of the individual party seeking it and only to the extent necessary to satisfy that party’s own claim.
If part of this section fails. If the class-action waiver in the paragraph above is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim — and only that claim — is severed from arbitration and must proceed in court; the remainder of this section continues to apply. No part of this section shall be read as agreeing to class arbitration.
You can opt out. You may reject this arbitration and class-waiver section by emailing [email protected] with your account email and the words “arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out affects nothing else in this agreement, and we will not treat you differently for it.
13. Termination
TagsTrader may terminate or suspend your account at any time, with or without cause, and without liability. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections regarding limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution shall survive termination.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California.
