What a transfer involves in California
Involved — in California a vehicle changes hands too. California’s documented route runs the plate release inside a vehicle transfer: the seller puts the combination on a vehicle, sells you that vehicle, and releases the plate to you as its new owner. You can then move the combination onto your own car as a separate step. It is several DMV visits and it is not quick.

Contacting the owner
Browsing is free. To message the owner, a buyer pays TagsTrader a one-time fee of $19.99 for this listing, shown before payment. TagsTrader takes no commission and never holds the money for the plate; buyer and seller pay each other and file the transfer with the issuing authority.
